Get inspiration to start (or expand!) your backyard urban farm by attending one of our free demos or workshops:

  • 11am — Transitioning Your Veggie Garden From Winter to Spring with Mike Irvine, Homestead Design Collective. Spring is almost here! In this class we’ll discuss soil prep, fertilization, pest management, succession planting, and all the other garden tasks needed to kick off your spring vegetable garden.
  • Noon — Unexpected Projects from Extraordinary Garden Plants with Stefani Bittner, Homestead Design Collective. Use plants, some already growing in your garden, to make cocktails, flower arrangements, beauty products, and handmade gifts. Stefani will give some examples from her new book “Harvest” and also sign books after her talk. She is also the co-author of “The Beautiful Edible Garden.”
  • 1pm — What You Need to Start a Beehive in Your Backyard with BioFuel Oasis co-owner Jennifer Radtke. Attend this short intro workshop to beekeeping!
  • 2pm — How to Ferment Veggies/Make Kraut by Phat Beetz Youth Pickle Co.
  • 3pm — How to Start Making Your Own Kombucha Demo with Nishanga Bliss. Bring a jar and lid if you want to go home with a free scoby to get started. Whether you are new or experienced to fermentation, come and learn the tips and tricks to make kombucha easily.

  • Biodiesel will be 10 cents off at our Berkeley and San Anselmo stations.
  • Everything will be 10% OFF in our store!
